For Parents

Welcome! Interested in how children learn languages? Curious what participating in our research would involve? This is the place to be.

Research at PALM

We study how children learn language. We’re particularly interested in the huge store of knowledge that children under 5 build up about the languages around them, how it develops and what it contains.

Participating in our research

Participating in our research typically involves a short visit to PALM. We’re located in downtown Fairfax, next to the fire station. Visits typically last 30-45 minutes and involve a little paperwork for you and a short interactive video or game for your child.

If you’d be interested in participating, you can sign up using the form below. This will add your information to our database of interested families. When we have a study your child is eligible for, we’ll let you know. We’ll tell you a little bit about the study, and you can decide if you’re interested in participating or not. There’s never any obligation! If you’re too busy or just not interested, that’s not a problem. You can also change your mind and ask us to remove your contact information from our database at any time.

Information you provide will be accessible only to the PALM research team and will never be shared or used for any other purposes.
